Meet Loy. She was born on March 11, 1996 and has six siblings. She speaks Luo and studies English as a second language.
In 2006 her father died of liver failure. Her mother is very sick with AIDS and fully dependant on the family for care. An older brother took over as the head of the household and did the best that he could, but all of the family suffered from hunger and health issues. Education opportunities were few and far between.
In 2007, Loy’s brother was made aware of Otino Waa and he made arrangements for an interview with an administrator. Late in the year she was admitted as a “vulnerable child” to Otino Waa.
Loy is thrilled to have a new home, family school and church. She is doing well in school and hope to be a teacher some day.
