Adong Stella
Adong Stella was born on 2/13/98. She speaks English and Luo. She has four siblings and is the oldest. In 2005 she lost her dad to AIDS and in 2006 her mother also died from AIDS. Stella is blessed to be AIDS negative.
An uncle took over the care of the kids, but was challenged with this addition to his already large family. This arrangement lasted only a few months and all of Stella’s brothers and sisters were scattered to other families. She was left as the caretaker of the uncle’s younger children. Stella was devastated to have lost her immediate family and considered running away on many occasions.
Fortunately, a local pastor learned of Stella’s situation and helped make arrangements for her to be admitted to Otino Waa. In late 2007, she found a new home and family there.
Stella is happy to have resumed school. Math and English are her best classes and she wants to be a teacher or doctor to help people like herself. She likes playing netball with her friends. She helps with chores around the house and ushers at church.
She looks forward to hearing from her sponsors and someday meeting them. Stella wants them to know how much she appreciates their sponsorship, it is an answer to her prayers. She would like to tell them her story including her hope for a better future.
