Norman Lemo
Norman was born
on 10/9/1998. He has four
siblings.
In 2005 the LRA rebels made life
very difficult for villages in northern Uganda. Raids were frequent and Norman’s parents were both killed as
the village was raided. All the
children knew the drill. They had
done it many times before – quickly find the designated hiding place.
An uncle took over the care of
the children, but this proved to be too much for a poor farmer. Norman’s siblings were scattered to
other family members, but Norman was able to stay as he had learned how to best
care for the goats. Fortunately
the uncle knew the value of education and made sure Norman attended as much as
possible.
In 2010, after being put on a waiting list, he was
able to come to Otino Waa Children’s Village. He is delighted to find a new life there and finds math to
be his best subject. He would like
to be a teacher someday.
